one of las smartest young voices says the la times…which the artist suspects, may just be a covert way of saying la is dumb. “open” mike eagle wouldnt terribly mind, being born and raised in chicago where the painful winters and his uppity grandparents kept him inside as a youth. he spent his formative years watching alternative music happen on mtv and hoping to one day be able to audition for the native tongues. as a young adult after graduating with a degree in psychology, he did the next best thing and moved to los angeles, joining the project blowed collective where he made music and toured with busdriver, aceyalone, abstract, nocando, and more. he has also gained notoriety in the world of comedy by being invited by professional funny people (paul f. tompkins, hannibal buress, matt besser/ucb) to rap at their shows. he would like to be raps kurt vonnegut but recognizes that he would first have to create something as iconic as the four-stroke illustration of an anus. he practices by releasing rap albums that delight, entertain, and confuse.

valcrond video, the label run by sound and image artist luke wyatt (torn hawk), apresents vv-013 russos *wild metals*. russo (ari russo) is an nyc based multi-artist whose engagement with abandoned media finds an outlet in the video bursts he culls as officefern. as a programmer, he has produced innovative music generation tools such as the diamond arpeggiator. he returns to his own music with this collection of challenging and transporting structures. wyatt and vv are eager to endorse russos latest report on crossmodal perception, a true exercise in synesthesia. *wild metals* sounds like ferns and orchids infiltrating a tableaux of black plastic electronics, the breed of black plastic that russo and wyatt both found sinisterly inserted into the grid of their childhood. it provided the skin for some of their favorite toys, and its general resonance was aligned with the fast cars, women, and architecture that dominated their imaginations.

at its very first start, the new label founded by conrad van orton proposes a vinyl of his own with two original tracks on the a side, november and captivity archives. and two great remixers such as vsk and the mysterious annuled user on the other. just as the needle starts to mark the passage, the classic four quarters give life to a beat that between one step and another compresses catapulting reality in a classic industrial scenario of mid-autumn where the clear sky gets marked by black and deep plots. a background noise accompanies the whole programming part of the drumming that gives off a relentless pace. on the a side captivity archives reconfirms the industrial nature of cvo with a look towards distant galaxies ..... with the needle still hot we turn around the record to the b side. here we find the vsk remix with a more ambient and crystal clear sound. to the original drum, vsk, choose an equally technical percussion. all home made. last but not least the contribution given by annulled user. trademark? techno! .. and there is nothing here to mess about with. 4/4 dry, hard which feel anger and rebellion desire. the kick, fairly present, is ripped apart by some demonic filters. the 5.30 min of annulled user are a reminiscence of the 90s.

this holographic release was inspired by black hole thermodynamics. in the case of omni, the insight was that the sound content of all fallen objects might be contained in surface fluctuations of the event horizon. siren to siren is microscopically random, like a hot gas. a known configuration of classic tape sounds has zero entropy: there is nothing random about binary configurations. if one throws a hot gas with entropy into the g count, the entropy would disappear - producing aggressive bandwidths, and ragga baselines.
